So it has been about ten years since the last time that my family has been on a family trip! It was so nice to be able to get our entire family together and take a LONG NEEDED and OVER DUE trip. Willie and Capri flew down from Boise and met the rest of us (who drove) in Velencia. We got to spend a day on the beach where we took some really nice new family pictures and went to Magic Mountain! It was Chris and I's first trip to a theme park together, and we had so much fun! Kami took most of the pictures, so stay tuned, I'm sure we'll get them up soon!

My best friend Brea came home from Hawaii for a little bit! Chris and I got to go out on a little double date with her and her hubby Brint :) It was a lot of fun and so nice to have our friends back for a while! We went to dinner at Abuelo's and saw the movie Thor! We had a great time!

So I started working for one of Chris' good friends, Heath Snell about 5 months ago. He is a dentist, but he does the oral surgery stuff :) So I get to pull out wisdom teeth all day long! So Cool! Anyways, not only is he the COOLEST boss in the whole world, but the other assistant I work with is my new BEST FRIEND!! Her name is Stephanie Aston, and I LOVE HER! We seriously have so much fun, I can't even explain!

Me and Mom's Birthday!

For the past 23 years, I have been soooo generous as to share my birthday with my mom. I know, I know, call me a saint right? Ya, thats me, a saint, always sharing.... haha ACTUALLY, its the other way around! My mom has been so sweet to share a birthday with me for my entire life! She says that I was the best birthday present she has ever gotten, but we know thats a load of crap... ya right, being in labor on MY birthday, NO THANK YOU! But it is true, 23 years ago on April 27th, I was born on my mom's birthday, and we have shared this day together every year ever since! I love sharing a birthday with my mom. She is always so thoughtful and "tries" to make it more special for me, even though it's her day as well.

This year we kept it simple. Not by choice, might I add! You see, my birthday landed on the one day of the week that I attend school from 9AM to 7:30PM. OF COURSE! So needless to say, there wasn't much time to celebrate that evening. Chris and I went with my parents and brother Stetson to MATTA'S for dinner, and then headed back to my parent's house to open gifts.

I just needed to add the EARLY birthday present I got for myself!! I found these chandeliers at Target and they were $80.00 for them. I knew they would go on sale, so I waited like 5 months and they finally did! I got them for $60.00 each!! I couldn't wait to put them up in my kitchen and I think they turned out so DANG cute! (Thanks to my hubby for slaving to put them up while I was at volleyball practice :) )

My mom and Dad gave me this for my gift... It is my REAL bouquet and Chris' REAL boutonniere framed in a shadow box! I LOVE it :) We freeze dried my flowers the day after our wedding to make sure we could keep them for arrangement one day!

Me and Chris can't believe we just celebrated our one year anniversary! Time has flown by, and we have had so much fun playing husband and wife :) I am so grateful to have such a handsome, loving, and hard working man for a husband! Chris has now re-named me HOLLY HOMEMAKER because I have FINALLY started learning how to sew!! I think I wasoutside playing with bugs during the time that my grandma DeWitt was teaching Kami and Capri how to sew when we were little....

Like I've said before, I've been a little discouraged about how to decorate my bedroom... Every other room is pretty much decorated at our house, but our bedroom has been majorly neglected!

SO>>> I finally found some curtains that I liked and thanks to my fabulous sister KAMI, I've started to sew a few things tomatch and make parts of my bedding!

Following this tutorial here from a cute blog I found called PRUDENT BABY, KAMI taught me how to sew Shams for my bed! They turned out super cute, I love them!

After I told Chris about my fun filled afternoon of sewing shams with Kami, I KNEW I wanted a sewing machine! Chris was waaaaaaaaayyyyyyy ahead of me! He stopped by his mom's house and grabbed her sewing machine for me and brought it home :)

All in all, I guess you could say I'm on a roll with this sewing kick! I decided to try a throw pillow, but couldn't find a tutorial, so I made up my own instructions :) I found the fabric and border at JO ANN's. I think it turned out super cute, and its given me a few more ideas for different pillows to make and put on my bed! I've decided to do more of an antique look in my room with black and creams, with accents of pink! So far, I LIKE!

So, I think its safe to say that I am definitely SPOILED ROTTEN.

Here's the story:

I had a hard day yesterday.... SCHOOL started for me, and even though I am only there on Mondays and Wednesdays, WEDNESDAYS ARE KILLER. I was at school from 9AM to 7:30PM. Thats right.. 10 and a half hours of being on ASU's campus. For those that know me really well, know that I HATE SCHOOL, but I do it because I know I need to get my degree and so I suck it up and just do it. Well, not only was I exhausted and miserable from the long terrible hours bestowed upon what is my Wednesday's, but I also have been procrastinating working on my BEDROOM and how to decorate it. I like to think of myself as pretty reasonable when it comes to shopping and decorating my house. I look for sales and usually get pretty good deals for my money. Well, my bedroom has been somewhat of a challenge for me because I have a good idea of how I want it to turn out, but I have been neglecting it because I am not sure about a few things (bedding, patterns, etc). HOWEVER, the one thing that I am sure of that I want to go into my bedroom is pretty expensive....I found a beautiful chandelier at the fabulous ZGALLERIE, and I've wanted it for FOREVER now... I am a CHANDELIER FREAK... I love the way they look and how they class up any room that is exposed to their loveliness :)

So, I called Chris during one of my breaks at school and told him that I was thinking about giving in and buying this chandelier... I have the sweetest husband in the world :) I came home to a big square box waiting in the entry way for me :) :) and GUeSs WhAT iT WaS???????????

FUN FINDS.

So last last few months I have been on this high of doing things in our house. Any wall that is bare, or space that has nothing, I have tried and am trying to decorate and make our home complete! I went to a garage sale with Kami a few weeks ago and I found this cute coat hanger for $20. I have seen a lot of different ones before, but none that I was like, "OH my Gosh I have to have it!" This one was super cute though, so I HAD TO GET IT!

It was cream colored when I bought it, but everything in my entry way is black, gold, and yellow... SO I painted it...

The entry way is ALMOst finished! I was glad to get this out of the way for now though!

Joanne's is having huge sales on their picture frames right now, so I was excited to finally finish my material board for my kitchen! I bought a 16x20 frame that was originally $70 for $27!

Chris has me HOOKED on the store ZGALLERIE. I had my floral centerpiece on my table in a plain old vase, until I hit up ZGALLERIE. They had this baby on sale for $40. It was originally over $100! I love it :) early christmas for me! thanks babe!

I also found this candelabra at ZGALLERIE too! It is so beautiful! It was originally $30 and I got it for $15!

I love it when I find good sales on cute things :)

So Chris had his work christmas party this year and we went! They had a 20's theme for the party so me and Chris really got into it! Chris and I found some cute accessories at H&M in scottsdale to make our costumes complete! Chris has made some really good friends at work and so we had a lot of fun with them at the party! There was like 500 people at this party! It was huge and it was held at the Scottsdale Air Park- super cool place!

So as you could see from my last post, I have been busy making the house cute :) I thought I would share a couple ways that helped make it that way :)

Chris showed me these anchor things that are so cool, I HAD to share! This may not be new to some, but I'll share anyway... They screw right into the wall and hide so you can hang heavier pictures on the nail.

I think a lot of you are familiar with Hobby Lobby :) which is where I found some cute knobs that will screw right inside these anchors! Check them out!

I also FINALLY finished my bench project that I've been working on (or lack there of) for like 5 months! There is this house on the corner by Westwood High school, where these hispanic people live. I drove by their home recognizing this bench ever time I went by.... I finally worked up enough courage to go and ask if I could buy it from them, and they said yes! I was so excited, I knew it would look sooo cute in my family room.

So I've decided that we get smarter overtime... you know, through experience and age we realize how funny our decisions were when we were young! I have this really awkward entry way in my house that has been the DEATH OF ME trying to figure out what I want to do to it. I decorated it one way before thinking it was SOOO CUUUTE, and because I looked at it long enough, I finally realized how horrible it was! haha... here is how I decorated it before:

So this is the new and improved Entry way to our house... I'm not finished, I think I might even try talking Chris into going to get paint and painting the walls tonight!

A DREAM COME TRUE...

So, some of you may think this is a L@mE dream, but none the less, it has been a dream of mine since my senior year in high school... My passion, my love (besides my husband of course), and my life has been Volleyball for the last ten years of my life! I started playing in 7th grade because my best friend Olivia Shill wanted to try out for Club Red, so I thought, what the heck, I'd try it, even though I didn't like volleyball and wasn't any good at it! Well once I started, I was addicted. All I wanted was to get good at this sport! I even gave up my first love, softball, to focus and improve my skills in volleyball. Oh, and Olivia quit after that and became a cheerleader, thanks though livvie! Anyways, at graduation of my senior year, I told Mr. Thad Gates (our Athletic Director) that I was going to go play 4 years of college ball, and then I was going to come back, and he was going to hire me to be the coach at Westwood. He laughed and went along with what I had repeatedly stated for the last 4 years in the random moments when I happened to run into him at sporting events and such. Well, a year before I got done with my 4 years in college, Coach Steve Crook retired, and Mr. Gated hired someone else... When I heard the news I sadly pictured my dream of becoming head coach extending far far into the future with hope of it ever coming true diminishing.

Well, I am happy to announce that there was a change of plans in the previous coaching staff, and it couldn't have come at a better time! I was privileged to get an interview and then was hired as the new head girls Varsity coach at Westwood last week! I guess dreams do come true, and heavenly father has blessed me so much this year. I have the best new husband who is totally supportive of me, and I've got my dream job! Its going to be alot of hard work, and alot of time, but I am so excited! I guess its true, once a warrior, always a warrior!

SHOW TIME!

So, pretty much, this was one of my favorite parts of planning my own wedding. I thought, it was going to be a total disaster because of the time and the lack of planning it all out before hand... but it actually turned out to be the best and most fun day ever! I would totally recommend EVERY FUTURE BRIDE to make a MUSIC VIDEO for their wedding to show at the reception! We actually got the idea from Emily Jennings Davis who did this same thing for her wedding, and we've loved the idea ever since! Kami was going to do it for her wedding and just ran out of time. So I made SURE that we would make time to do it for our wedding! I think it turned out pretty dang cute! And Chris was such a trooper during the whole thing too! He is so dang cute in it, and my bridesmaids ROCK (of course) too! Check it out!

For Better or for Worse

Now you may think that I am talking about marriage, a wedding, etc, etc.. and I will in this post, however, thats not what the "For Better or for Worse" title is about... OH NO! Im talkin about BEST FRIENDS here!! You know, the kind of Best Friend that would FLY all the way to Utah (and hates to fly with a passion, not to mention!), sit in FREEZING COLD WEATHER all day while it SNOWED (I don't do snow too well either) so that I can see my best friend come out of the temple and take HOURS of pictures while I wear my SATIN, SHORT SLEEVED, BRIDESMAIDS DRESS!!!!! NOW THATS FOR BETTER OR FOR WORSE PEOPLE!
haha, for real though.

I had the priviledge of being a bridesmaid and attending one of my best friend's weddings this last week! Ashley married Nate Mabon on May 6th! She looked so beautiful and we had a blast celebrating that night! Me and another bridemaid (also named Ashley) had so much fun together! We had to team up and we became buddies because ashley was always with her man, and both our husbands had to work! So we are good friends now!

So for everyone that had seen our house BEFORE chris and I got married, you all know how extremely "bachelor" and "contemporary" looking it was... well chris has been such a trooper and has helped me turn our home into a more "married couple" home. you know, looks like a boy AND A GIRL live in it :) and a little more cute and traditonal! so here are a few pictures of my kitchen and my family room.. i didnt really take any before pics so just imagine- white walls, no decorations, JUST a TV and couches.. that was about it...

I got the idea from kami to paint the kitchen walls BLACK! YES BLACK! because our cabinets are such a LIGHT bamboo color, it turned out awesome!

Hobby Lobby is my new favorite store! Ive gotten such cute decorations for the top of the cabinets.. I found this REAL telephone and my grandmas house and it is so cute up there!

I'm getting married in 8 DAYS! I can't believe how fast time has flown by! we just had six more months like yesterday! Well, as some of you know, I have this sister who is what I like to call a "multi tasker" and in her case especially, I should probably call her a multi tasker X 1,000,000! Kami has been, not only my matron of honor, and not only my wedding planner, but ALSO my photographer! Basically she does EVERYTHING for me! I am so thankful to have her helping with so much, I could not have made everything so beautiful and great without her! So, because my sister is my photographer, its kind of typical that paying clients come first.. so here I am at her house, blogging, because she is so dang busy! I don't get a cool little take-home CD like all the other clients.. NOOOOO I get to drive my butt over to her house and upload pictures for you all to see from HER COMPUTER! haha as is life, thats how it goes.. and as is life again, thats why its 8 DAYS before my wedding that I am just getting engagement pictures up..... they are dang cute though if I don't say so myself :) thanks kami!

A CRAZY CHRISTMAS!

What a crazy fun christmas we had this year! From our christmas party, to christmas eve and PJs, to decorating our very first tree, we had so much fun! It was so good to see old friends and be able to catch up on everyone's lives! Christmas PJs are always a big deal and Chris was so happy to finally be a part of this tradition! Christmas eve is always a trip with the Gardner family! And decorating our first tree was so fun with Nanci and Dave! I had to have PINK on my tree of course! so....
This morning was pretty much the worst morning of my life... a little background for ya.. I basically have the worst periods that any girl could possibly have without being diagnosed with endometriosis! So this morning I started my period... TMI sorry... and it started out like any other day that I would start: a little pain (cramps) but nothing that i can't handle. So off to school I went to take my anatomy final. During my final I was pretty OK until I got to the last 5 questions... My pain began to exceed what I basically could bare without crying. I started to rock myself back and forth in my seat until I finished my test, handed it in, and booked out the door. Jenn my roommate took that class with me so she was waiting outside for me to finish. I told her that I didn;t feel good so we started rushing towards my truck in a parking lot that was NOT close at all. About half way to my truck I turned pale white, and that feeling of complete Flu-like symptoms came over me and I collapsed on the sidewalk. I was half way on the sidewalk and halfway in the grass when I realized I was gonna puke! I got so sick I couldn't even stand up. I gave Jenn the keys and told her to run get my truck and come get me. When she got back to me, i ran to the truck and was completely sick to my stomach. We rushed back to my apartment and I immediately ran into the bathroom and stripped my clothes off! As I hung over the toilet seat I yelled at Jenn to call my sister Kami. Kami told me to calm down and tried to ask me questions that would help me. I was basically hyperventilating and couldn't talk or think like the whole time! Then my hands went numb! I could not feel my hands! I thought I was dying and that something inside of me was going to burst! After about 20 minutes of agonizing paiin I finally was like, I'M GOING TO THE ER! I couldnt take the pain any longer. SO we got in the car and drove to the instacare here. By the time we got there my nausea had went away, bt my pain was still bad.. the instacare people told me they didnt take cases dealing with menstration and that I'd have to go to the emergency room. I then decided that I was OK enough to go back to the apartment and try to wait it out. If I wasn't better in an hour, I would go back... So I went home, drank a little gatorade, had part of a bagel, and went to sleep.. I thought it was all over!......but it wasn't!! I woke up 30 minutes later and threw up in a bowl for 30 minutes more! and I actually puked this time. It was so gross. but I felt so much better after, and I feel good now. The rest of the day I have felt much better which I am soooo glad! I hate these days! I hope the doc will be able to help me when I get home! It sucks being a girl! -well, sometimes :)
but anyways,
on a GOOD note, I'M COMING HOME TOMORROW!!! YAY!!!! CAN'T WAIT TO SEE EVERYBODY!

2 YEARS AND SO CLOSE...

So this is my last week at DIXIE STATE! I go home on Thursday for GOOD! I think I speak for both Chris and I when I say this has been a crazy two years... I can't believe its almost over! It took so long to get here, and at the same time I feel like parts have flown by. I think it has been a good experience for me to be able to go to college. I love that volleyball brought me here, but it really made me realize how much I love and miss my family and friends. I'm such a home-body and can't wait to start my REAL life when I get back!

Not only has it been two years that I've been away at DIXIE, but December 11th was my 2ND YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF BEING WITH CHRIS! It was two years ago that Chris took me out on our first date to AZ88. I couldn't have asked to be with someone who is more loving and giving towards me then Chris. I don't know how I could live without him, he is amazing and I love him so much. Less then 3 months is our wedding and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with him!

Chris came up this last weekend and helped me pack most of my stuff up, and he took back more then half of my stuff with him on his way home today. We had a great weekend together! He took me out to eat ALOT and we watched movies all weekend. Long distance sucks a**! I'm so glad I don't ever have to be apart from him and my family anymore! 4 more days! SO CLOSE!!

well, its finally over... My years of playing volleyball have finally come to an end! This last weekend I played my last two games of my volleyball career! I had a good run- 10 years and I can honestly say its bitter-sweet knowing that I am done. Finishing 2nd in the conference for assists isn't a bad finish either ;)

Its been funny to look back at this last year and think of all the memories I've acquired! Whats even better then the good memories are of course the bad ones... I think I've earned the right to say that I got BEAT UP this season! But no PAIN no GAIN right??? haha take a look:

Sprained the ankle (for the second time) OUCH!

Oh.. and lets not forget... Bruised the BIG TOE NAILS...

...Which turned into REMOVAL OF THE BIG TOE NAILS.
Thats right people... there is no toe nail in this picture!

So pretty much... I fell on the court floor multiple times (bruising), I landed on other girl's feet after jumping to block a ball (sprained ankle), and I beat the crap out of my coach for buying sucky shoes!! (Loss of toe nails) (just kidding, i didn't beat him up. he's 6'4" and could kill me. but i wanted to... haha)

To sum it all up, I wouldn't take back a second of what I went through! No injury of any kind could have stopped me from playing this game! I am so grateful that I got to play volleyball, it has helped shape who I am today, and brought me closer to many of my loved ones. So now I say "THATS ALL FOLKS" I'm on to the next chapters of my life: MARRIAGE and COACHING!

So now that I am soon to be MRS. ROSS, I have an itch for cute crafts for my WEDDING and of course for THE HOUSE afterward... I know there are a lot of similar ideas out there, but I like the originals attached with my own ideas to produce a product of my own taste! I found a cute cardboard "R" at Michaels. I wanted to make it correspond with my wedding stuff and this is what I came up with...

I added more pink, white, and black ribbon later to make the ribbon part look better... it was waaaay easy and so much fun to do! I thought it turned out pretty cute :) It will be somewhere at my wedding for decoration, and then placed in a cute place at my house! Just thought I'd share :)

HALLOWEEN 2009!

So for HalLOweEn this year, I got to spend some quality time with my team AND my handsome stud (Chris)! Before I headed down to AZ for the HAlloWeEn weekend, my team and I participated in a "TRUNK OR TREAT" for some "athlete exposure." Basically all of the sports teams park a car on the track of the football field and pass out candy to all the little kids that come through with their families. It was way fun! All the teams were supposed to pick out a theme, so we picked "COUNTRY GIRLS." Although it was FREEZING we played country music, danced, took pictures, and lovedall the cute kids' costumes that came by!

After the team get-together, I got to COME HOME! Chris surprised me and flew up a few days before HAllOwEen so I had someone to drive home with :) The 6 1/2 hour drive home is pretty boring when I'm by myself! So I was Soooo happy!

For hAllOWeEn I was a Lady Bug and he was a Football Player. He was so dang hot in his uniform ;)

We ended up hanging out with Chris's family and took his nephew out to trick-or-treat. We passed out candy and hot cheetoes bags-it was hilarious to see how all the WHITE kids wanted the candy, and all the MEXICAN kids wanted hot cheetoes. We were crackin up! Good times, Good times....

Senior Season Tribute

Just wanted to post a few pictures of my cute team, and show everybody how cool my team is at Dixie State! Volleyball has legitimately been my life for the past 10 years now! I've been playing since 7th grade, and now I'm almost done with my Senior Season in college. It has been a bitter-sweet thing to be a part of. Volleyball has put me through both the hardest and best times in my life. Believe it or not, it has taken me all ten of these years to feel like I have finally had ONE successful season. I've been on both bad teams and good teams, but never felt like I had a season that I could say, "Man, that was THE year- MY year"- UNTIL NOW...

Now, I never beat Mountain View in high School... I never went to Nationals at SCC... And I'm not gonna win a title at Dixie State... But my team this year DID beat the NUMBER 1 team in our conference in 3 STRAIGHT GAMES... and I've never felt more like a winner on a winning team.................. and my mom got to be there... and so did my dad... and so did Chandler, my little sister... and so did my hero, my sister Kami.

All these years I've looked up to Kami. Kami was a great volleyball player. She beat Mountain View in High School, she went to Nationals at SCC, and she was an ALL-AMERICAN SETTER. Kami taught me all that I know about volleyball, and she's helped me through all of the years that I've played. I couldn't have gotten as far as I have without her!

Only 4 games left of my volleyball career... these are for you Kam! Thanks for making me feel like an all-american! xoxo

It's official! This is my first time blogging and I'm trying to figure everything out!...

So I've had this "thing" for a long time now that I felt silly having a blog as a "single person," (no offense to those that are single) and I never set up a blog because I always thought it was just for "married people." WELL... I ALMOST held up to my beliefs about the blogging world... and now I have a blog!

So what great event besides marriage could possibly bring me to break my rule you ask? WELL....

It's official! Me and Chris are ENGAGED! I figured that was close enough :)

So here's THE STORY:

As many of you know I am currently living in St. George Utah, playing volleyball at Dixie State University. Well, I came home to visit my family and Chris a week before our fall break. So for fall break I decided to just stay in St. George. Chris, not being able to be away from me for more than a week :) said that he would come up and visit me for fall break. Chris asked me if I wanted to go spend the day in Vegas for fun, because there's not much to do in St. George, and because Vegas is only about an hour and a half away. Well, Vegas is always fun, so of course we went! When we got there Chris made reservations for dinner, but the place we wanted to go to, couldn't get us in until 8:30. So, Chris suggested that we walk down the strip and look around and shop and what not... Well, we happened to work our way over to the The Venetian when Chris ever-so smoothly said "Hey, have you ever been to the top of the Eiffel Tower?" And I hadn't! So we went and got tickets, and rode the elevator to the very top! It was such a sweet view! We watched the Bellagio water show, and then over my shoulder, Chris asked me, "So you wanna marry me?" I turned my head so fast and he was holding the ring out in front of him! I started freaking out!! I was so surprised and totally shocked; I didn't even see it coming! It was so romantic and he did it so cute :) I can't wait to spend the rest of eternity with him!
